Repeat Prescriptions

These are only given with the doctor’s agreement. If you have a regular repeat prescription you will be given a computer slip.

For a repeat prescription post or hand your slip in at the surgery or make arrangements with your local pharmacy.

If you ‘hand’ your slip in allow at least two working days and three working days for ‘postal’ requests.

Alternatively you can order your repeat prescription online via the link at the top of this page. Ask a receptionist for details (Photo ID is required).

Prescriptions can be collected personally by an adult or they will be posted back to you with the slip if you provide a stamped addressed envelope.

Repeat dispensing also available. You will be asked to see the doctor for a check up at regular intervals.

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
